Views Across the Pond: How American Broadcast Journalists View Japan and How Japanese Broadcast Journalists View the U.S.
A comparative study of broadcast journalism, focusing on Japanese reporters in the U.S. and American reporters in Japan. It aims to improve broadcast reporting on bi-lateral issues by studying the way each group gathers and reports the news. The project seeks to reveal the differences and similarities of Western and Japanese reporting in an effort to educate reporters on their own biases and blind-spots and the power they have to forge positive and negative perceptions of Japan and the United States. The goal is to disseminate research findings to a wide audience to improve understanding of news reporting from Japan and the United States.
