Direct Foreign Investment, Late Industrialization and Ethnic Relations: Malaysia, South Africa, and Brazil

The proposed research seeks to study the relationship between foreign investment from North America, Europe and Japan, late industrialization and ethnic relations in the newly industrializing countries of Malaysia, South Africa and Brazil. It particularly seeks to explore the nature and types of direct foreign investment from the North and their consequences for late industrialization as well as ethnic discrimination and its elimination by focusing on the policies of governments and firms, and the socio-economic environment in both investing and host societies.
