Bio

Sophie Komujuni works as a lecturer at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Uganda Martyrs University where she teaches human rights, peace and conflict and international law courses. Sophie is a researcher and has also engaged in consultancy work with a couple of organizations, including Chr. Michelsen Institute, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Institute for Peace and Security studies (IPSS). Her areas of interest are peace and conflict studies, human rights, humanitarianism, violent extremism, international law and governance. She received her education at The United Nations Mandated University for Peace and Ghent University holds a master’s degree in international law and human rights and a PhD in political science, respectively. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in ethics and development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University. Her work has been published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Eastern Africa Studies.
