Knowledge platforms and reports:
Cataloging evidence-based policy solutions
The vast landscape of research findings can be difficult to navigate. In order to ensure that research findings are adopted into policy and practice, those findings need to be organized and made accessible to stakeholders.
Recent research on the uptake of scientific evidence by decision makers reveals the importance of curating, organizing, and clearly reporting scientific findings. For example, decision makers are more responsive to new research findings when given information about the range of estimated effect sizes and the sample sizes used for analysis (Vivalt and Coville 2023). Decision makers are also more responsive to new research evidence when shown estimated effects for multiple interventions side-by-side, and when given single impact metrics that aggregate multiple outcomes of interest (Toma and Bell 2023).
The Social Science Research Council draws on the research on the uptake of scientific evidence to produce accessible technical reports and online knowledge platforms cataloging evidence-based policy solutions, helping stakeholders navigate and implement cost-effective and scalable policy solutions across multiple policy areas.
