The SSRC is proud to welcome the University of Washington to the College and University Fund for the Social Sciences (CUF). UW joins a network of more than forty CUF higher education partners that are dedicated to connecting across disciplines and institutions to produce high-impact scholarship, and to expanding the funding infrastructure for social and behavioral science worldwide.
“Many of the most pressing challenges we are facing, including rising inequality, pandemic spread, climate change, and threats to democratic institutions, are fundamentally human and societal in nature. These are precisely the kinds of problems for which social and behavioral scientists seek solutions,” said SSRC president Anna Harvey. “The College and University Fund network is a key mechanism for leveraging the capacity of the international research community and for generating the funding necessary to do research at scale–the scale that is needed to address these challenges. We are thrilled to welcome the University of Washington to this growing group, and look forward to convening the full membership at our upcoming conference in November.”
“Joining CUF gives our outstanding University of Washington faculty the opportunity to be in direct and close conversation with colleagues at peer institutions who are similarly committed to transformative thinking,” said Dianne Harris, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “The Social Science Research Council’s CUF members comprise a community of the world’s leading scholars who share our commitment to looking beyond institutional boundaries as we seek to address the most challenging problems of our time through the lens of the social sciences. We look forward to engaging with this extraordinary group.”
