Overview

Based at the University of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Contending Modernities is a multi-year, multi-stage interdisciplinary initiative that aims to develop a rich and nuanced understanding of how religious and secular forces interact in today’s world. Through a series of small, intensive, and exploratory workshops, the SSRC’s Program on Religion and the Public Sphere is collaborating with Contending Modernities in an effort to refine the initiative’s core research themes, to cultivate new areas of research, and to incubate new working groups.
