The 2019 workshop will take place the evening of Saturday, August 24 through Tuesday, August 27 at the UC Berkeley Center for Korean Studies in Berkeley, CA.

The Social Science Research Council is pleased to announce the Korean Studies Workshop for Junior Faculty. Up to six recent PhDs conducting research on Korea will be selected on the basis of the potential contribution of their proposed book.

Participants will attend a three-day workshop and collaborate with two senior faculty and a press editor on the conceptualization and planning of their first scholarly monograph. Travel stipends will be made available, and the SSRC will fully cover participants’ lodging and meals for the duration of the workshop. Limited funds are available for participants traveling from outside the United States. Funding for the workshop is provided by the Academy for Korean Studies.

This year’s faculty mentors are:

John Lie, UC Berkeley

Jun Yoo, Yonsei University
