The Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum is pleased to announce the release of the the CPPF Working Papers on Women in Politics series, edited by our Associate Director Renata Segura. The fourth in the series, titled “Gender and Elections: Temporary Special Measures Beyond Quotas,” was written by Mona Lena Krook (Rutgers University). This paper presents an overview of “temporary special measures” used globally in relation to electoral gender quotas. It also provides a discussion on a range of non-quota alternatives that might be employed at a variety of different levels to empower women in politics.

Please find the entire working paper series here.
