Rachel Nuwer is an award-winning freelance journalist who writes about science, travel, adventure and food. She regularly contributes to the New York Times, National Geographic, BBC and other major media outlets and is the author of Poached: Inside the Dark World of Wildlife Trafficking (Da Capo). She studied science journalism at New York University and ecology at the University of East Anglia. She lives in Brooklyn.
