The Industries of Ideas project, supported by the National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships, is building a prototype data infrastructure linking person-level university grant records to state employment records, enabling stakeholders to track the movement of scientific talent from universities into the private sector, and to better document the contributions of grant-funded research to innovation-led economic growth. In its pilot phase, the project is focused on the state of Ohio and the emerging technologies of AI and electric vehicles.
The Industries of Ideas University Advisory Board is composed of representatives from a broad range of academic institutions, who are providing feedback and guidance to ensure that the project’s prototype data infrastructure will be scalable to additional states, universities and technologies.
