Climate Change Working Group Meeting 2017

The working group on climate change seeks to make the study of climate change a distinct and recognized area of study in the social sciences. Its steering committee convened to discuss several meetings and events: a workshop on diplomatic methods to encourage mitigation activity, a conference at Stanford on the comparative politics of climate change, and a conference at Princeton on the ethical responsibilities of professionals who witness climate change. Witnessing Professionals and Climate Change Workshop

The Anxieties of Democracy program’s Working Group on Climate Change, in collaboration with Princeton University, hosted “Witnessing Professionals and Climate Change” a workshop on the ethics of professionals in the face of climate change. Chaired by Professor Nancy Rosenblum and Professor Melissa Lane, “Witnessing Professionals” featured panels with lawyers, scientists, public health, and university officials in order to discuss the role of professionals and institutions in combating climate change. The Anxieties of Democracy program is thrilled to sponsor several panels and a program reception at the 2018 American Political Science Association (APSA) annual meeting in Boston.
